Five-a-side football competition

The NAM08 5-a-side football tournament will be held on Tuesday 1st April 2008 between the hours of 7-10pm. The location of the tournament will be at the Queen's Physical Education Centre (see map at bottom of page) on the outdoor pitches. All ten teams have now been decided. However, there may be drop outs so if you'd like your team to be placed on the reserve list please contact Dave Jess ASAP!

The group tables and fixture list has now been finalised! Please scroll to the bottom of this page to see the times of all the matches!

The Rules

The most important rules are listed below:

  • Teams must register all their players and the numbers *may* be limited (obviously only 5 on the pitch at any one time!)
  • "Rolling" substitutions will be permitted
  • The ball may travel above head height
  • Throw-ins and corners will occur
  • Teams may shoot from anywhere on the pitch
  • Excessive or rash fouling may result in a player being asked to sit the next match out
  • Decisions of the referees will be final

NAM08 Fixture List

Here is a fixture list of the games which need to be played during the NAM08 5-a-side football tournament. Players will be briefed before the tournament between 18:50 and 19:00, so please be changed and present on the outdoor pitches by 18:50 at the very latest. I ask players to read the following fixture list and pay close attention to the times of their matches. It is imperative we do not run late as the Physical Education Centre closes at 10pm sharp!

I am also very pleased to announce sponsorship of the NAM08 5-a-side football tournament. During the evening we will be handing out FREE energy drinks and bottled water supplied by Shark Energy Drinks and Coca-Cola Bottlers (Ulster) Ltd. If numbers allow, these drinks will be supplied to both participants and spectators. So please come down and cheer on your team!
