We welcome applications from students wishing to undertake a PhD in the Astrophysics Research Centre starting in September/October 2017. We expect to have at least five fully funded PhD studentships, details below. The five funded positions are only available for students fulfilling UK national requirements (either UK nationals, or have been in the UK for the last 3 years for a purpose which is not full-time education). Self-funding students or students with their own international funding grants are also very welcome to apply :
Please note that Queen's University will not accept applications that do not follow the required procedures.
Contact details for all staff are available here.
We have a number of fully funded PhD studentships available for UK residents for projects in the research areas indicated in the links below (for eligibility criteria, note that for EU residents these awards cover FEES ONLY and no maintenance award, except for the project entitled Solar Physics with Biomedical Applications). We recommend browsing the staff research pages to get a general overview of our work.

Note that more projects will be being proposed over the coming few weeks: please check back often!
The Queen’s University/China Scholarship Council Awards provide funding for up to 10 full PhD scholarships for candidates starting their studies in the 2017-18 academic year. We welcome applications from eligible Chinese students for these fully funded studentships in any of the projects list above. To be eligible for funding you must fulfil the two criteria below :
The academic requirements and the application procedure is given on this link. Follow the instructions for applying, and note the deadline for these scholarships is 31 January 2017. Note that this is earlier than our application deadline for UK students.
International self-funded students should consult these pages and links for tuition fees. If you are a non-EU student, with your own funding we require a annual fee of, currently £18800 and we recommend you have living expenses of around £12-14k per year. These fees are both PhD and MPhil, per year
