Research Fellow in Solar System Astrophysics

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position in the area of Solar System Astrophysics for up to 2 years in the first instance. The post is located within the Astrophysics Research Centre (ARC) of the School of Mathematics and Physics.

The successful candidate will work on projects within the Solar System Group in ARC involving the analysis and interpretation of observations of asteroids and comets made within wide-field sky surveys. They will also be required to perform, analyse and interpret dedicated observations on specific targets made by optical and infrared ground-based observatories. ARC is a partner in the Pan-STARRS project, and is a member of the UK LSST consortium. We make extensive use of ground-based observing facilities at ESO and La Palma.

Applicants must have a PhD in Solar system astronomy either awarded or submitted by the time of taking up the post. Experience is essential in the reduction, analysis and interpretation of optical and/or infrared observations of Solar system minor bodies from ground-based or satellite-borne instruments.

Salary: AC2 scale, £31,656 – £41,255 per annum.
