Teaching

I currently teach 3 lecture courses: the first year Maths for Physicists and Engineers course (PHY 1002), a 2nd year undergraduate module 'Astronomy' (PHY 2003) and a 4th year MSci level module 'Planetary Systems' (PHY 4002). In addition I supervise 2nd year Physics Laboratory, 3rd year Advanced Laboratories, 4th year projects as well as 1st year tutorials. I have also been the Attendance Officer, and the Disability Advisor for the School of Mathematics and Physics, amongst other things. I have also taught PHY4029 (Synoptic Physics: Rotation on our Universe) and acted as level 2 coordinator.

Students enrolled on these courses can (where applicable) get course notes and problems sheets from Queen's online, or can find me in my office.

I regard the quality of my teaching as important as my research, and hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching. Below are listed the most recent TEQ's awarded by students for my courses (out of a maximum of 5, where 4 is the national average across all subjects).
