I am an experienced research scientist, currently working with Prof. Tom Millar on the interesting subject of deuterium fractionation in protoplanetary discs and comets. My previous positions include:

  • University College London (UCL), with Prof. Serena Viti (2011 – 2013)
  • The University of Manchester, with Dr. Ciska Kemper (2008 – 2011)
  • NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, with Dr. Karen Willacy (2005 – 2008)

I obtained my PhD from UMIST, in Manchester, UK, under the supervision of Profs. Albert Zijlstra & Tom Millar, with a two-year Studentship at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile, working with Dr. Lars-Ake Nyman. I have a four-year Masters degree (First Class) in MPhys Mathematical Physics, from UMIST.

My research interests are diverse, and include:

    • the formation of complex organic and prebiotic molecules
    • isotope chemistry
    • PAH chemistry
  • Asymptotic and post-asymptotic giant branch stars
  • Planetary nebulae
  • Protoplanetary discs around T Tauri stars
  • Hot cores and high-mass star formation
  • Molecular clouds
  • Spitzer IRS observations
  • the Large Magellanic Cloud
  • Project and data management
